When you want to tell someone a concern you use DESC:
- Describe-tell them what is happening, as a fact
- Express-tell them how you feel as a result
- Specify-tell them what you want to change
- Consequence-tell them what will happen if they do or do not change
D – When I wanted to talk to you about our bills, you cussed at me. You then said, “It’s none of your business,” and then yelled at me about how I wasn’t supposed to be handling the money.
E – I felt hurt because you and I both are both working and bringing home
paychecks. I want to be involved in the budget.
S – I want to sit down with you tomorrow after dinner and go over the bills. We
C – I would appreciate it and it will help us save more money.
