Product Details

The Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) of 1978 lays out specific guidelines for those who work with American Indian youth. Because of history where these youths were taken from their families and off reservations, the ICWA provides procedures to ensure that American Indian youth reconnect with their families. This two-hour training provides participants with the opportunity to learn about the ICWA, the historical background of American Indians in this country, and how to actively encourage families to participate in their child’s care.

By the end of the course, participants will:

  • Understand rationale and background for ICWA
  • Develop skills to assist the child in receiving ICWA services
  • Improve cultural engagement with the American Indian/Alaska Native community
