Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC) is an approach that combines intensive mental health services for a foster child with the involvement of the resource parent as a mental health provider. Resource parents conduct services such as Plan Development, Rehabilitation, and Collateral as part of the child’s Child and Family Team (CFT). This three-hour course will cover how the TFC services different from traditional foster care and Intensive Services Foster Care (ISFC). It will also discuss how the resource parent integrates within the agency’s treatment team to benefit the youth’s treatment and future permanency goals.

By the end of the course, participants will:

Demonstrate the role of the TFC parent as Medi-Cal provider

Describe TFC, its intensive nature, and the TFC parent’s role

Identify TFC activities
